An injury at age 24 started the journey toward this athlete's BHR surgery 20 years later.

"When I was 24 years old and very active and athletic, I popped my right hip out when I was skiing. The bursa ruptured and it was bone on bone. By the age of 26, I had already lost significant mobility and had increased pain. I went to a few orthopedic doctors and they all told me to live with it as long as I could, and to be prepared for a hip replacement at a very young age. Twenty years later, the pain and mobility were almost unbearable. I met an acquaintance from Madison that told me about Dr. Rogerson. In 2007, when I was 44 years old, I wrote a letter to Dr. Rogerson explaining the problem I was having with my right hip. In my letter, I was basically begging for help, explaining that I would be happy to be able to wake up not feeling like a hundred year old man, and I would be satisfied if I could do basic things, like tie my shoes or play kickball with my children.

In my profession, I have had contact with literally hundreds of physicians. When I met with Dr. Rogerson on August 1, 2007, I was immediately impressed with his caring attitude and great bedside manner. I had done my research ahead of time, and I knew that he was at the cutting edge (no pun intended!) of hip resurfacing in this country. When I left his office, I felt that I had met the right man and staff to help me. I had my right hip resurfaced on August 20, 2007. I followed Dr. Rogerson's advice/rehab directions explicitly, and have never regretted it since.

I am currently more flexible and active now than I was in my twenties and thirties. I feel indebted to Dr. Rogerson and his caring staff for the quality of life I now enjoy. In closing, I would like to tell anyone who is thinking of having a hip resurfaced, that as good a physician as Dr. Rogerson is, he's a better man. You will never find a team that cares more for the outcome of their patients than Dr. Rogerson and his staff."

With Sincere Gratitude from,

Bryan J. and Family
